Dear parents and carers
Can you believe it? Term 3 is already behind us! This year has absolutely flown by - it feels like we were just kicking off Term 1, and now Term 4 is just around the corner.
Our students have been powering through with incredible focus and determination this term. Every time I pop into a classroom, I am blown away by the energy and effort going into final assessments. The commitment and hard work from every student this term has been nothing short of inspiring and the results are a testament to their dedication to learning. Well done everyone!
Below is a quick look at some of the events that have happened over the last two weeks. Scroll down to check out the photos:
Under 8s Day
On Friday 12th September we held our annual Under 8s Day where Prep to Year 2 students participated in rotational activities for the morning and middle sessions. Students participated in activities such as sensory play, cardboard box play, dash robots, mini golf plus many more. We were also lucky enough to have Mrs Fedorov and Mrs Nerot set up an animal station where students could visit with ducklings, baby chicks, puppies and even some goats! This was one of the highlights of the day. We also had visits from the army, police, fire brigade and SES on our oval, where students got up close to the vehicles. This year we even had delivery of the biggest tractor I’ve ever seen! Our youngest students had a fantastic day clambering all over the vehicles and meeting the service providers. We are very grateful for the community support from our local services who were able to be with us on the day.
A heartfelt thank you to our family volunteers as days like Under 8s cannot run without your support. We are grateful for the time you were able to give us that day. A special thanks goes to Russo and Vella for the tractor loan for the day; Gordonvale Golf Club, the Nerot family, Mrs Anderson for supervising children in the tractor and to Mrs McCosker from Play Matters. Helpers on the day were a massive support and we are so very grateful to you all: Mrs Stephens, Mrs Zeitlehofer, Mrs Todd, Mrs Fey and Miss Voyzey.
Finally, a massive thank you to Mrs Fedorov and Mrs Evans for the spectacular job they did with Under 8s Day! They have been working on making it a day to remember for our littlies for weeks and what a day it was! I know that they pulled in a few favours here and there and spent a lot of time creating new and fun activities. Every year this event just gets better and better! Brilliant!

Buzzing with excitement, the St Michael’s Spelling Bee took centre stage this week
From our eager Preps to our confident Year 6s, every student stepped up to the challenge, competing with their classmates and showing off the spelling skills they've been building all year. The atmosphere was electric, and the words — well, some were real tongue-twisters!
We’re incredibly proud of all our competitors for giving it their best shot. Your enthusiasm and effort were outstanding!
Congratulations to our year-level winners:

Parent/teacher/student conferences
By now most teachers will have held their Parent/Teacher/Student conferences. These meeting times are an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher, with your child in attendance for some or all of the conference time, for them to share what they have been learning. If you missed your time slot, I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher to arrange a time in Term 4.
Term 4 Activities:
- School recommences Tuesday 7th October
- Year 5 and 6 camps

Prep A
Our Prep students have been busy little bees this week, continuing their journey into literacy and numeracy with enthusiasm and joy. They're making fantastic progress in recognising and spelling their sight words, and have taken on the challenge of spelling teen numbers—those tricky numbers from eleven to nineteen—with growing confidence.
To celebrate their hard work and the wonder of early childhood, we hosted a vibrant Under Eights Day filled with activities designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and connection. From hands-on crafts to energetic outdoor games, every corner of the school was buzzing with excitement. It was heartwarming to see our youngest learners so engaged, supported by their peers, teachers, and families.
These moments remind us that learning is not just about books and numbers—it's about joy, exploration, and building a love for discovery that lasts a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special!

Class 1A

Class 2A

Class 3A
As Term 3 comes to a close, Year 3A has been buzzing with activity! Our students have been working incredibly hard to complete their assessments, showing great focus and determination. It’s been amazing to see them confidently demonstrate their learning across all subjects.
Class 4A
This week 4A class proudly took part in a spelling bee competition. Students had the opportunity to step up and showcase their spelling skills in front of teachers and peers.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and a little nervous energy as each contestant carefully listened to their words and confidently spelled them out. It was wonderful to see the encouragement and support students gave each other, demonstrating resilience and teamwork throughout the event.

Class 6A
The last few weeks, we have been incredibly busy exploring the endless uses of algebra to help solve problems with numbers. We began looking at patterns to establish a rule which could then be used to determine or predict numeric outcomes. Then we just have to go backwards to find our solution! The x factor is no longer just a talent show title. For 6A, it represents a possibility, a variable, a symbol for the unknown, just waiting to be found…..
The photos below exhibit students writing their own numeric expressions based on real world shopping problems and solving for the unknown factor.
