CLASS NEWS & AWARDS

Prep B

This week we had a very special visit from Mr Murray (Mrs Hardy's dad). Mr Murray or kindly referred to as 'Uncle Clive' is a Madjandji Yidinji elder. He talked to the Preps about the Yidinji people and taught us some words in Yidinji language. Thank you to Uncle Clive for visiting us. You are welcome back anytime.

Class 1B

Year 1B have commenced Term 4 with enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards their learning. They have quickly re-established their classroom routines and demonstrated a strong sense of focus and cooperation. This term began with meaningful celebrations of NAIDOC Week and Mercy Works, where students engaged in activities that deepened their understanding of community, culture, and compassion. We look forward to a productive and engaging final term of the school year, filled with continued growth and learning.

Class 2B

We had such a fun and busy day with our NAIDOC celebrations followed by Mercy Works activities last week. For our NAIDOC morning we participated in learning languages, creating deadly doors, face painting, sand art and making wool pictures. We then spent the afternoon going around to the different Mercy Works activities organised by our Year 6 students.

Year 3B’s Deadly Door for NAIDOC 2025
As part of our NAIDOC 2025 celebrations, Year 3B has proudly created a powerful “Deadly Door” display, honouring this year’s theme: Celebrating the Next Generation.
Our poster features walking footprints of knowledge, culture and responsibility that represents a journey forward, leading to the vibrant handprints of each student. These handprints symbolise the vital role our young learners play in carrying the light into the future with flames of Courage, Insight, Respect, Hope, and Strength — values that will guide them as they shape a brighter future.

Class 4B

Grade 4 students have been exploring Probability.  They have conducted many experiments or 'trials', made predictions based on expected outcomes and then compared the variation in actual outcome.  Very fun!

Year 5

Grade 5 students have had sessions on “What is a good leader?” and are presently working on their personal applications for leadership positions in 2026 for the interviewing committee in week 4. Currently, students are researching other world and local leaders who have inspired them. The application need only be a paragraph long and need to be completed at home with a parental signature. Application must be in by week 4 with Wednesday being the last acceptance date. Please leave these at the front office.

Sadly our excursion last term was cancelled but we happily confirm that Camp Patterson for Grade 5 will be in week 6 of this term. All arrangements that were made in term 3 will apply to this term.

Students are working hard in studying the events and conditions of the Colonising of Australia in HASS and English. Assessments are being made weekly in all subject areas as this academic year draws closer to the end. Please continue to send your children to school regularly to ensure all assessments are completed.

Remember, if you have any concerns please contact teachers through email or phone directly to school. We are happy to help!

Grade 5 teachers.

Class 6B

6B students have made a busy start to the term. In science we are learning about the 3 states of matter and reversible and irreversible changes. We began by looking at rust. Here are some examples of what students learnt about rust. In maths we are currently looking at chance and probability while our HASS topic is helping us understand the ethical choices we can make as consumers. We have begun by looking at the various types of egg production.  Our English work this term will see students complete a range of activities to expand their vocabular and enhance their understanding of grammar, which will assist them in becoming more articulate writers and confident, fluent readers.
