Prep B
Last week Prep celebrated 100 days of learning! The kids are now 100 days smarter! We are so proud of how far they have come! Congratulations Prep 2025!
Class 1B
This term in English, our Year 1 students are developing their writing skills by learning how to create informative texts about Australian animals. As part of this learning journey, we were fortunate to welcome Sasha from ‘Roaming Wild’ into our classrooms on Monday.
Sasha shared her incredible knowledge and passion for native wildlife, introducing students to a range of fascinating creatures found in our region. These included the Giant Burrowing Cockroach, Magnificent Green Tree Frog, Blue-tongue Lizard, Bearded Dragon, Jungle Carpet Python, Squirrel Glider, and even a Saltwater Crocodile!
It was an engaging and hands-on experience that sparked curiosity and inspired our budding writers. We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn more about these unique and diverse animals, and we look forward to using this experience to inform our writing in the coming weeks.
Class 2B
This term in 2B we have been focusing on sentence structure and adding detail to our writing. One of the ways we have done this is through our 'stretch a sentence' activity in morning review. We have looked at different images and created stretched out sentences to go along with them (who, doing what, where, when and why).
Class 3B
3B Is Buzzing with Learning!
It’s a full house in 3B, and we couldn’t be more excited! With every seat filled and every mind ready to grow, our classroom is alive with curiosity, collaboration, and a love of learning. We’re diving into our tasks with enthusiasm and focus—setting the tone for a fantastic term ahead. Watch this space as 3B continues to shine!
Class 4B
Grade 4 students have had a fine time learning about symmetry and tangrams in Maths. They created patterns that had line symmetry and rotational symmetry - very messy but fun! We then explored creating tangrams digitally and with physical pieces. Creating a square without any hints proved very challenging for some students. Finally, we had three brilliant competitors participate in the Gordonvale Pyramid Race last weekend. Sensational stamina you superstars!!!
Class 5B
This week we have continued our very extensive study on Animal Adaptations in our Science and English curriculum. All students are beginning to develop a sincere curiosity about how the environment, and the animal kingdom are closely connected. We are attending an excursion to the Cairns Aquarium in a guided tour looking at how these adaptations are even reflected in sea life.
In RE we are completing a study of the Jewish people and understanding the reason for praying.
Our next study is in investigating the writers of the Bible.
Our school camp is looming closer. There has been some work done in preparing tent companions and it appears that everyone has a buddy with them. Further preparations are underway. Should you have any enquiries please has no hesitation in contacting your specific classroom teacher by email.
Class 6B
This term year 6 are learning about electrical energy. We will investigate, design and build simple parallel and series DC circuits and develop our understanding of the different ways in which electrical energy can be generated. In the past few days students have selected a method of electrical power generation to research and write about. Our HASS focus is on Australia’s democracy and the three levels of government (federal, state and local) in Australia. In maths we have been multiplying, adding and subtracting decimals and applying these skills to convert between metric units of measurement. Our literacy focus this term is persuasive writing. Students will be looking at a variety of school websites and critiquing the effectiveness of each website in promoting the school using a variety of criteria. We are certainly having a very busy term!
