Principal News

95522.jpgDear parents and carers

As we come to the end of the first term of the year, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our amazing students for their hard work and dedication to learning. Our teachers and staff have shown incredible commitment, ensuring a vibrant and enriching learning environment for all.

This term has been filled to the brim with wonderful events and activities including Friday’s Holy Week Liturgy, and the Prep parents’ welcome BBQ. Over the past few weeks we’ve enjoyed a fantastic Cross Country carnival and the Project Compassion fundraising events run by our students which raised a whopping $916.85 for families in Samoa, helping communities upgrade their water supply.

Other celebrations and learning activities this term have certainly kept us busy with the student commissioning ceremony beginning the year, followed by St Patrick’s Day, Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day), Ash Wednesday and Harmony Day. Our students enjoyed swimming lessons at the Gordonvale Pool, participated in the Easter Bonnet Parade and our Year 3s and 5s tackled NAPLAN testing with determination. Our new school choir even managed to squeeze in a visit to the Pyramid Retirement Village to present the residents with posies of flowers from our Garden Club and to entertain them with some of our favourite tunes. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

Here are some of the highlights of the past few weeks…

Holy Week Liturgy

Run by our very talented Year 5 students and Prep students, this was a wonderful celebration attended by parents and friends. We would like to say a very big thank you to Mrs Drew who coordinated the liturgy.

Prep Parents ‘You made it to the end of Term 1’ BBQ

I would like to thank our parents for their ongoing support of St Michael’s and for partnering with us to provide the best possible learning environment for all our children.

Have a safe, healthy, happy and holy Easter break. We will see you in a couple of weeks. Let’s hope the sun stays out for the holidays!
